The starting point for all our Hateship woes; a cartoon interpretation of the Piraka from Bionicle where I really wanted to separate their designs from each other and practice some shape language.

Some of the cues I’ve taken from the canon plotline to represent their personalities were things like:

  • Reidak’s often boasted strength and intimidating factor
  • Zaktan’s conniving, scheming and sharp movements
  • Hakkann’s a constant nuisance, never sits still, shows off, so he gets a short rooster vibe.
  • Thok’s…. well I departed from the canon here the most, but he seems like a smooth operator.
  • Avak is a weapon’s engineer who doesn’t get much into combat, but does need to lug some metal and his collection of guns around.
  • Vezok having the reputation of being a warlord at some point. His strategic capabilities may have gone but I doubt his physical ones did.
  • Vezon is a goblin. He gets to be a goblin.

It was originally intended for a different project I had in mind for them, but the body types stuck! Even scripted up a good chunk of an episodic-structured comic… But as ambition goes, that project is sitting on the backburner. If only there were three of me!
